Sixth ULLA Summer School for Postgraduate Training and
Research (Paris)

1. Venue
The Summer School will take place at:

2. Accommodation
Students will be housed in different Foundations of the
"Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris",
located at the following address:

The Cité Universitaire can be reached very easily from
either Roissy-Charles de Gaulle airport, or Orly airport,
or Gare du Nord train station (Eurostar terminal) by taking
RER line B, station "Cité Universitaire".
Transport to the Centre d'Etudes Pharmaceutiques: The campus
can be reached in about 1 hr, by taking RER line B either
to Robinson, or to Antony and then buses. Details and maps
will be provided. One-week commuter tickets will be provided:
one identity picture will be requested for commuter's card.
Rooms for students: Rooms have been booked for participants,
who are required to specify on the registration form their
preference for sharing a room with a colleague.
Meals: Breakfast will be served at the Cité Universitaire
and evening meals can be taken there or in one of the many
restaurant of Paris (not included). Coffee breaks and lunch
will be available from Tuesday 8th to Saturday 12th and from
Tuesday 15th to Thursday 17th at the Restaurant Universitaire
on the Campus of Châtenay-Malabry.
Instructors: Instructors will be housed either at the Cité
Internationale Universitaire, at Fondation Biermans-Lapôtre
(single rooms), or at Hôtel du Lion (RER line B Station
Denfert-Rochereau).
3. Admission Procedure
The Summer School is open to a selection of PhD students from
ULLA institutions, from other institutions of higher education,
and to young industrial researchers.
PhDs from ULLA institutions
PhDs from ULLA institutions. During the selection procedure,
the various academic backgrounds of the candidates will be
taken into account. ULLA strives to include participants with
many different research strengths, thus creating a diverse
learning environment.
All selected PhD students are required to be present in Châtenay-Malabry
during the entire period of the School and to attend seven
courses, plus the Symposium and Poster Day. Students will
be awarded a Summer School certificate after having attended
the mandatory seven courses. To apply, please complete the
attached form,
making sure to list three courses of preference for each day
in order of priority. In the event courses become full, the
organisers will place students in their second or third course
choice. Every effort will be made, however, to ensure students
are placed in their first choice of courses.
As an ULLA Summer School student, participants will receive
the following: commuter ticket, course documentation, accommodation
for eleven nights, lunches at Restaurant Universitaire at
Châtenay-Malabry, and participation in social events.
All other costs are at the participant's expense.
Other students and researchers from industry
Other students and researchers from industry. The Summer School
is open to a limited number of participants from other universities
and young researchers from industry. To apply, candidates
should complete the attached
application form and submit the additional documentation
needed. This includes a letter of reference from supervising
academic or industrial staff that also guarantees the payment
of fees.
Fees
Fees. The cost of the full programme for external PhD students
will be Euro 1,200 (Euro 800 if no accommodation is needed).
This registration fee covers all course documentation, accommodation
for eleven nights, lunches at Restaurant Universitaire at
Châtenay-Malabry, and participation in social events.
The registration fee for young researchers from industry will
be Euro 1,600 (Euro 1,200 if no accommodation is needed) and
includes all the same benefits of enrolment.
PhDs or young researchers wishing to attend only a selection
of courses are asked to contact Professor
Denis Labarre to arrange the appropriate fees.
4. Language
All courses will be taught in English.

5. Social Programme
There will be social activities organised for all participants.
These will include a Welcome Party at arrival on Monday 7th
evening in Cité Universitaire, a Dinner-Cruise on River
Seine in Paris on Friday 11th and a Farewell Party on Thursday
17th evening on the Campus. Participation in these events
is included in the registration fee. There will also be free
time during which participants may investigate the many sights
and sounds of Paris. Visits can be organised on Sunday 13th
morning.

Abstracts with keywords must be received

Each participant will bring a poster that will be
displayed for the duration of the Summer School.
