ULLA Series of Textbooks in the Pharmaceutical Sciences

Concept
The concept is to have a series of textbooks in different subject areas aimed at science graduates entering a PhD programme in the pharmaceutical sciences and needing specialised knowledge about a new subject area. They could also be used for undergraduate teaching at the Masters level or for specific courses and for practising pharmaceutical scientists. The textbooks would be both an introduction to the subject, so that the reader can get a good breadth about an area, as well as a source of references for further reading and information. They will be the kind of books that can be read whilst drinking a cup of coffee. They will be books written by pharmaceutical scientists for new pharmaceutical scientists and suitable for world-wide use.

The series will not be numbered and the words "An Introduction to" or similar wording will not be used. They will be written by a single author, or a small group of authors, and not an edited series of chapters from different authors. The figures could be available to be downloaded electronically for use in academic lectures.

Branding and Publisher
The Pharmaceutical Press will be the publisher and publications in the ULLA series will have a distinctive design incorporating the use of the ULLA Consortium name and logo.

Format
The books can be of different lengths, but the target is less than 250 pages with a page size of 234mm x 156mm. This corresponds to a word length of up to 80,000 words (320 A4 double spaced, 11 point Times New Roman text). The books will be soft-backed. References will be complete and conform to the Vancouver Style (numbers in text) with a list of further reading.

Price
The idea is to have a relatively inexpensive series of books so that many people will buy them (less than £30).

Editorial Board
The Editorial Board comprises the two Editors in Chief (Prof A Smith [London] and Prof A C Moffat [London]) together with other academic members of the ULLA Executive Committee and Consortium: Professor Fred Nyberg (Uppsala), Prof L Dencker (Uppsala), Prof Meindert Danhof (Leiden), Prof N Vermeulen (Amsterdam), Prof S Frokjaer (Copenhagen), Ass Prof FS Jorgensen (Copenhagen), Prof Elias Fattal (Paris), Prof D Labarre (Paris), Prof Patrizia Santi (Parma), Prof. Franco Bernini (Parma) and Prof. Patrick Augustijns (Leuven).

Proposals
Proposals should contain: title, planned delivery date, full names, qualifications and contact details of all authors, contents list and if possible a sample chapter.
